Whapperknocker is the one of the creatures from Connecticut, told by the lumberjacks of the 19th and early 20th centuries. This was a small creature the size of a weasel with a brown-red coloured fur coat. It lived on a diet of birds and worms. It was so wild that no man could tame it. It worked all day and so it could only be caught at night. Its fur skin was used for garments which were said to be highly prized by women.
