Mongitore's Monstrous Fish (Oxypterus mongitori, given by Constantin Samuel Rafinesque in 1814) is a mystery fish of the Mediterranean Sea. It was said to be 45 feet 6 inches long with a circumference of 23 feet 7 inches. Blowhole. Two dorsal fins. Tail, 10 feet 2 inches long. It was said to live in the Mediterranean Sea, off Sicily.
In September 1741, a monstrous fish was stranded near Licata, Sicily, Italy. It had a blowhole and powerful teeth.

- A Basking shark (Cetorhinus maximus),
since no known whales have two dorsal fins. These sharks are known to grow to more than 40 feet.
- A Mediterranean occurrence of the
unknown Magenta Whale, which has two dorsal fins.
