Chuti is a hyena-like animal of Choyang and Iswa Valleys, Makalu-Barun National Park, Nepal. Canine head. Tigerlike stripes. Has four forward claws and one rear claw. Kills cattle. Leaves humans alone.
Possible explanations[]
- The Striped hyena (Hyaena hyaena) has well-defined stripes on its body and limbs and a massive head. It is common in open country and less abundant in the forested regions of Nepal.
- Confusion with the similarly named hominid- or bearlike Dzu-Teh.
